Understand the Bangladesh phone market
Start with the exact variant and sales channel—not the logo alone. Then verify the warranty provider, every IMEI, local-assembly or import route, network bands and final payable price.
Check every IMEI before payment; it is the direct way to catch an unregistered or mismatched handset identity. A multi-SIM phone can expose more than one IMEI, so test each number through BTRC's NEIR service and keep an invoice that identifies the device.
Official and parallel-import warranties are not interchangeable. An official channel should identify the importer or distributor, warranty term and authorized service route; a parallel-import phone can be genuine while repair coverage comes only from the seller.
Do not treat a short checking period or shop warranty as manufacturer-backed service. Get the provider, duration, service location, parts coverage and replacement conditions in writing before payment.
Local assembly can reduce landed cost when a model qualifies, but it does not guarantee a lower retail price or make every handset tax-exempt. Samsung partner Fair Electronics, vivo, Symphony and Walton publish Bangladesh phone assembly or production activity; origin still needs checking for the exact model and period.
Complete phones, component kits and manufacturing inputs do not share one tax treatment. Rates and concessions can change through fiscal-year tariffs and notices, so compare the final payable amount for the same variant and warranty—not only an advertised price.
A 5G label does not guarantee that a phone works the same way on every Bangladeshi operator. The exact regional model, operator-approved device list, active SIM and plan, current coverage and software support all need to match.
The 2.6 GHz n41 and 3.5 GHz n78 bands can be important hardware checks, but those two bands alone do not guarantee service on Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink or Teletalk. At purchase time, match the exact model number against each operator's current coverage and supported-device information.
